As I have begun making preparations for this year’s Annual General meeting for Milton Transitional Housing, I noted that your term as a Director for the organization began in June 2012 and will conclude at this year’s AGM in November. I am amazed at how quickly your term seems to have flown by and I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all that you have done both for Milton Transitional Housing and for me, as its Executive Director.
When you began your term with MTH six years ago, this was a very different agency. It had one part time staff person, three rental units and no community awareness to speak of. Over the past six years, largely due to your involvement, both in your role as Chair and then in your role as Board member, the organization has grown to include four part time staff positions, nine rental units, a flat funding agreement with the Region of Halton and more. And in that short 6 years, we have seen eleven families graduate from our program, with another four graduates expected by the end of the year.
You have played such a large role in the expansion of MTH, particularly in forging the partnerships for success we now have with Habitat for Humanity and the Region of Halton.
You have been a tireless supporter of our fundraising efforts – from your active participation as a walker (and top fundraiser!) in the Coldest Night of the Year Walk, as well serving soup and taking photos at the Empty Bowls event and so much more.
And I will always be grateful that you actively recruited me for the position of Executive Director nearly five years ago and for the support you have given to me since.
I sincerely hope that you will be able to attend the AGM at 12:30 pm on Friday November 2 as I would like to present you with a plaque honouring your support and commitment during your term of office with Milton Transitional Housing as a small token of our appreciation.
