Milton enforcement blitz nets 900 illegal signs

News Release-

In a continued effort to declutter town streets, Milton is moving ahead with its Sign By-law blitz. Illegal signs are removed by Town staff and companies are charged a fine for illegal signs along public property including street boulevards, roadways and parks.

In under one month, Town staff have removed over 900 commercial signs that did not comply with By-Law 15-2005 and will continue removals on a weekly basis throughout the spring and summer months. Please remember that commercial lawn signs are only permitted on private property and not on roadways, boulevards or parks.

Milton charges $81 to cover the cost of removal and disposal of illegal signs. Violators may also be charged according to the Provincial Offenses Act and may be summoned into court.

If you spot a sign that shouldn’t be there, use the myMILTON Click & Fix feature to report it.
