The FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton is thrilled to announce its 2019-2020 season. With five sold out performances last year, this season’s line-up brings home some of Canada’s most celebrated artists to Milton.
This season features Canadian country music artist, Meghan Patrick, a two-time CCMA Female Artist of the Year, and a recent recipient of the Juno Country Album of the Year Award and Breakthrough Artist Award. This rising star writes her personal experiences into beautiful and authentic songs.
With an outstanding reputation for their live performances, 54•40 brings their energetic stage presence to Milton. After a career spanning more than three decades, 54•50 will cover their catalogue of familiar hits including “One Gun”, “Ocean Pearl”, and “I Go Blind”. For fans of the 80s, Gold and Platinum artist Kim Mitchell is also set to perform his hits songs including the summer anthems, “Patio Lanterns”, “Go for a Soda” and “Rock N Roll Duty”.
This season also features Canadian alternative rock performers, including the Halifax native group Sloan. With twelve full-length albums to their credit, this legendary band has released over 30 singles, receiving accolades along the way including a Juno Award and nine nominations. The Trews will also perform chart-topping hits from their 20-year career. Recently nominated at the Junos for Rock Album of the Year, the Trews have shared the stage with artists such as the Rolling Stones, Weezer, and Bruce Springsteen.
The Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre returns to the Centre this season in a production titled Teasing Gravity. This company is made up of emerging artists under the age of 19, and showcases their fearless ability and youthful athleticism.
The Centre will also host the inaugural “Fall Ball” this September in support of the FirstOntario Credit Union Every Milton Child Every Year Arts Program. This program provides opportunities for elementary students to participate in diverse arts programming, each year, free of charge. The event will feature The Dreamboats, a charismatic foursome who blend the nostalgia of the 50s and 60s with a modern indie-rock sound.
The season once again features an exciting and varied complement of community groups, rental performances and shows. Residents are encouraged to explore local talent through an exciting line-up of musical performances, tribute acts, concerts, theatre, family shows, film, and festivals.
